In part 1, Day26 discussed their first major tour, getting used to the cameras and their surprise after finding out Danity Kane was broken up by Diddy. Part 2 finds the group elaborating on how Aubrey kept D Woods from appearing on the season finale, how jealousy ruined the group and the truth that the cameras hide.
Q, you kind of alluded to Dawn having a solo deal. Do you think that had something to do with the girls and their issues?
Q: I think Aubrey is a person that manipulates people. I think she’s jealous and she needs help. My issue came in because Dawn is my girl. She comes to me and she cries and expresses that she, Aundrea and Shannon are all for Danity Kane. But this whole Ebony & Ivory (D Woods and Aubrey)…they have other things that they want to do and they don’t put Danity Kane first. The difference between Day26 and Danity Kane is that when I made the group, I put Day26 first and Q second. Everything that has to do with the group, I’m going to handle first. Aubrey did "Hairspray" and the girls supported her. Aubrey wasn’t showing up to tour dates! That’s messed up. Then you try and throw Dawn’s situation in her face? I think that’s jealousy. Prime example is that Aubrey came on stage during the finale saying that she wanted to be in the group while backstage you are taking pictures by yourself. It’s just phony to me. I think the rest of the girls handled it very professionally but I wish that the audience could have been exposed to the truth. Somebody has to stand up to Aubrey and someone has to tell the truth or she is going to keep getting away with it. They were on her side for all the wrong reasons.
How has everything been with you and Dawn since?
Q: Me and Dawn are real good. We’re a family - Day26 and the rest of Danity Kane. I don’t know about Ebony & Ivory but we are a family…
Brian: …and we love D Woods too! As well as Aubrey…
Q: …but they have that Ebony & Ivory sh*t going on.
Brian: It’s unfortunate that things happened the way they did. One thing we wanted to make clear is if there is one member missing from DK then there’s no DK. Same with Day26. I think Aubrey and D Woods felt that they were bigger than the group. You are never bigger than the group.
Q: I don’t even think it was D Woods. It was Aubrey who felt that way. D Woods just wanted to follow her. She got messed up for following Aubrey. She wasn’t even at the finale!
I wanted to ask about that. Does anyone know what happened to her?
Brian: She’s in Europe shooting a movie and doing a fashion show.
Q: She was going to come but Aubrey told her not to come because she (lied and said) wasn’t coming. So Aubrey manipulated her into not coming.
Brian: What!?!?
Q: That’s why D Woods stayed in Europe. Aubrey played her again.
Brian: This sh*t is new to me!
The blogosphere talked about a lot of things that went on during the tour that were never seen on the show, do you guys have anything that wasn’t shown on air or manipulated a certain way for the viewers?
Brian: The whole Laurie Ann Gibson situation. They made it seem like I just totally interrupted her rehearsal.
Robert: Yeah!
(all laugh)
Brian: Anyways…her assistant went to the radio to stop the music and I told her that Tony Dofat was coming to the rehearsal. Somehow they ran with that like I interrupted the rehearsal. Also when they show me saying “Did Diddy make you do that?” they didn’t show her making a mockery of me. All the guys were on one side of the room while I was on the other and she said “Come on everybody! We need to come on this side of the room and gather around Brian because he is going to apologize to us!” and I was like “Did Diddy make you do that?” and that’s how it came out. They made it seem like I just came out and said it.
So how much of the show is them making you what they want you to be rather than you being who you are?
Willie: MTV has the power to edit everything how they want to.
Brian: Putting words in certain places…
Willie: It is a reality show so a majority of it is real. I don’t think nobody is not how they look on TV.
Q: Honestly, I have to disagree with Willie. They made Aubrey look so good on TV and she’s not really like that.
Brian: (laughs) Go in!
Q: I’m not going to really go there…
Willie: The stuff they don’t show, mediatakeout.com talks about.
Q: That’s why Aubrey was about to leave the show earlier because she was getting exposed and scared by the internet.
Brian: It is real, but, MTV has the power to make you who they want you to be.
So in this case it was Aubrey being the good girl…
Brian: And she is so not! We love her but we wish she would have made better decisions.
Q: Aubrey is looked at as the superstar of the group. When you are in a group with five other individuals, anything that you do affects the group. People’s lives are in your hands. She was doing all these things and messing with the other girl’s careers. I don’t think that’s fair.
Robert, mediatakeout tends to put a lot out there with you cheating on your girl. How difficult is it to deflect the rumors that surround you and may not have any merit?
Robert: I think it is funny because when I was nobody they weren’t saying nothing.
Brian: Hey! Say it again!
Robert: I remember when you could put any of our names in a google search and nothing would come up. Now there are pages of stuff that we never knew was out there. I want the haters to keep talking because if they aren’t talking, we are doing something wrong.
Q: When I read the blogs, I just have to laugh at the person who has the time to make up a story about me.
You guys mentioned a new season is coming. What will be new this season? You’ve made the tour, made the album and made the band. What’s left?
All: We don’t know!
Willie: It appears that we are very interesting. So you’ll have to see!
